Courtney and Brad’s May wedding was the epitomy of a country wedding. There were so many great details, and it was every bit an Arkansas country wedding, from the barefoot bride to the 100 year old church. Thanks so much, to Brad and Courtney, for taking the time to share your story. Enjoy the interview and the detail shots that go with it.
How did the two of you meet? Tell us your story:
Brad and I meet when I was in high school. We “hung out” with the same crowd and we instantly became best friends, he was even my roommate for a couple of months while he was building his, now our home! After about three years of being best friends we both started to figure out that maybe there was something more there than “just friends”.
What attracted me to my husband was?
His amazing voice! He is a great singer and there is nothing hotter than a guy that can sing and play the guitar for you!
What attracted me to my wife was:
Her confidence, Courtney can walk in a room and instantly take control of it. When she talks to people she genuinely wants to get to know them and make them feel comfortable talking to her.
Tell us about finding your wedding dress and where you found it?:
I actually found my wedding dress online and the instant I saw it I knew it was the dress I wanted! It is a Casablanca dress which is only carried by one store in Arkansas Jodie Marie’s Bridal in Little Rock. I went to them and they had it special ordered in for me! When it finally came in it was just as perfect as I thought it would be and it was the only dress I tried on! The lady that owns Jodie Marie’s loved it so much she actually carried that dress in her store now!
Biggest challenge the day of the wedding:
Actually picking the date! I hate planning ahead so it took me almost 8 months to finally pick the date and location!
What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day?
It would have to be the surprise visitor we had on the horse. For a minute I thought he was going to ride into the church on his horse!
The weather on our wedding day was:
Wonderful, the sun was shining, there was a great breeze and beautiful blue skies!
Favorite design element of your big day:
The Church, at 110 years old it had so much character and charm of its own without anything at all being done to it.
Describe your wedding flowers (Vendor?):
Joe from Cathy’s flowers did a great job keeping all the flowers simple and natural looking for me by using fresh greenery and a few callalillys .
Describe your wedding cake (Vendor?):
Mrs. Sutterfield did both of our cakes, and she did a great job! I loved both of them!
Our favorite detail of the wedding was:
The location, the church is nestled out in the country and is just a perfect place for a wedding!
Funniest moment?
Brad was sweating like crazy during the ceremony and without a moments hesitation I wiped the sweat off of his forehead and right onto my dress!
The most unexpected event on our wedding day was:
Having a random guy ride up on a horse looking for a funeral…..
Three adjectives that describe the day are:
Simple, Country, and Perfect!
What advice would you give to someone planning their wedding?
Don’t sweat the details, just make a decision and stick with it and if something goes wrong, just roll with it and move on. As much as you want the day to be perfect something you don’t plan on is bound to happen! And of course hire Melissa McCrotty to be your photographer because she is FABULOUS!
What’s next for you as a couple? What are you looking forward to in the future?
Brad and I will both head back to work for a couple of weeks before we head to Estes Park Colorado for our honeymoon! After that, we will go back to being a domesticated little family with our two dogs and cat!
Thanks so much for sharing, Brad and Courtney, and best wishes for a lifetime of happiness!
