I met up with Lacey and Derrick in Dardanelle, and we rode up the winding road to Mount Nebo together. I love to hop in the car with my couples if I can, because it is a great time to find out a little background story on their relationship. When I asked for the scoop on how they met, Lacey’s face lite– she was so excited to tell the story!
Freshman year, at UCA, and Lacey was roped into attending a “school function” with her roommate. Knowing no one, Lacey spied a kind face, and ended up talking to the cute, sweet Derrick for the entire 30 minutes, before her roommate decided it was time to jet. As she was saying goodbye to Derrick, he used a classic pick-up, and truly, if it had come from any other guy, Lacey probably would have done what she normally did, and given out a fake number, but something about Derrick was different. When he insisted it would be a crime if he never spoke to her again, she saw sincerety beneath the cooler-than-cool pick up line. And she jotted down her real number. The first (and last) time that has happened. Derrick called shortly after, and the rest, as they say, is history!
Now, over four years later, Derrick has decided it would be a crime if he didn’t marry that pretty co-ed from UCA (sorry, Derrick, I couldn’t help the pun!) I am so excited to be shooting their October wedding, and after hearing Lacey’s plans, I know it is going to be fabulous!
Here are a few of my picks from Lacey and Derrick’s engagement session, followed by a slideshow. ![]()
