So thankful for the rain, but it has put a damper a few of our plans this week…including senior sessions that were supposed to happen but didn’t, and attempts to make one last trip to the pool before schools starts. Because posts didn’t go as planned, I thought I would do a random happenings post….
*When the rain cancels your pool date….why not play in the rain instead? At first they thought I was crazy, but soon, they got the hang of it…..
* Abree had her first date this week. Ok, not really a date, but it was hard not to tease her about it. An adorable little boy from school/church was out of town for her birthday a couple of weeks ago, so his family invited her to lunch. The morning of the lunch, she told me….Mommy, I need to look GOOD today. And proceeded to ask if she could wear MAKEUP?!!! Where is my six year old?!
* We bought a bird. We are now weird bird people. I can’t even tell you how it started, really. Well, I do know it had something to do with renting Rio. And a little spare time. One day, not long after watching the cartoon Rio with the girls,we made the mistake of visiting the new Pet Smart store in town. Abree became obsessed with the idea of buying a bird, and talked about nothing else for a straight week. She actually had some birthday+tooth fairy+ chores money, so saying no was really hard. It was one of her first attempts to save money. Then she gave Wes “the puppy dog eyes”. Annnnd…..now we have a bird. Named Mikey. (can you say SUCKER!!) Mikey now lives in my office, because, apparently, birds need a lot of company…. and I spend large parts of the day in the office editing. He’s actually kind of cute, and pretty good company, but he squawks at the most embarrassing of times. Like, when I am on the phone with a bride, talking about her wedding day time line (sorry about that, Elizabeth!) So, if you call me, and hear weird squawking, just pretend I am vacationing in a rain forest or something, ok?! Oh, and he also snores. Who knew birds snore??!! It sounds a little like chirping, but it’s always when he sleeps. And, while we sleep.
* Teresa Judkins hooked me up with these AWESOME vintage t-shirt dresses for the girls!! How cute are they?! And, how many first grade/preschool kids are going to be stylin’ with retro-rocker t-shirt-dresses on the first day of school?! My girls are way cool, I tell ya’. Of course, they have no idea who Bob Marley or Nirvana are, and I highly doubt their friends will either, but I keep telling them to trust me, the guys are COOL. And, Abree and Kenzie are still young enough, they believe me. Wonder how much longer that will last?! I told them to make rocker fingers….apparently, not such an easy task for little hands. There was a certain amount of confusion….
And, about the time I was ready to call it quits, they got it….sort of…….
* And after the rain….. (I did not tell her to do that, by the way)
